ilochip's first patent on the way....

In a recent office action from the European Patent Organisation (EPO), the examination process has concluded that with minor changes to the description section, the patent application EP1730276 entitled METHOD, CHIP, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR EXTRACTION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS and covering ilochip's electrolysis technology for the extraction of nucleic acids can be granted with all of the original 19 claims intact.  This is a milestone in the company's history and lays the foundation for commercial exploitation of the electrolysis technology and it's inclusion in the company's integrated platform for the detection of airborne pathogens.  The patent is expected to be issued in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

This is the first of three european patent applications within the three patent families protecting ilochip's core technology to be granted.  Decisions on the other two European applications are pending.  The patent families are also being prosecuted in other countries relevant for the commercial markets ilochip expect's to operate within.
