SELEX Project
ilochip A/S has been contracted by the UK’s leading defence electronics contractor, SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems Ltd (SELEX S&AS),
Purpose of the project
The purpose of the project is to further develop an integrated laboratory-on-a-chip. This compact biological diagnostic laboratory will perform all of the complex operations required to accurately and reliably detect biological pathogens including biological warfare agents. Ultimately this laboratory-on-a-chip will be contained within a highly portable device that will enable the rapid detection and identification of airborne biological pathogens.
Project description
The project is a joined development programme between ilochip and SELEX S&AS where the expertise from both companies and subcontractors have joint forces to develop and document a fully integrated laboratory-on-a-chip device.

Fully automated detection-chip
The biochip-platform is being developed as a generic detection-chip, which can take in an air sample, isolate the DNA and amplify it, while monitoring it in real-time. The total time for an analysis is currently approx. 30 minutes. The biochip is controlled by an advanced micro-controller, which can be connected to an extern communication module, e.g. a PC, a radio, or a cell phone.
