Technology
ilochip A/S develops state-of-the-art MEMS (MicroElecectronic Mechanical Systems) biochip solutions for the detection of airborne pathogens for the military, homeland defense, in vitro diagnostic, and food safety sectors. ilochip’s Integrated Lab-on-Chip (ILOC) concept integrates air sampling, sample preparation, PCR and detection in a flexible, stand-alone system.
The aim behind developing the ilochip technology has been to provide a biochip that is generic in nature and highly configurable in its basic format, thus allowing the end-user the highest degree of freedom when configuring the device. In general, biochips from other manufacturers are designed for a limited scope of applications and a particular purpose.
The ilochip ILOC concept aims directly at removing these limitations by allowing the end-user to extend, explore and discover the functionality of the technology by exploiting the platform’s flexibilities. In addition, the generic nature of the biochip eliminates the need to undertake constant R&D cycles to meet new demands from customers and thus reduces both initial development costs and time to market. ilochip technology therefore empowers the end-user to quickly develop an assay for a particular application without investing in extensive hardware development.
